Discovered check puzzles

45 discovered check puzzles from real games, rated 864 to 2640. Here are 18, from easiest to hardest.

A discovered check is a discovered attack against the king. One piece moves and the piece behind it gives check, so your opponent must answer the check and cannot deal with whatever the moving piece is doing.

That makes the moving piece almost free: it can capture a defended piece, attack the queen or land on a square where it would normally be taken. When both pieces give check at once, it is a double check, and only a king move can answer it.

How to solve them: When your piece stands between your long-range piece and the enemy king, every move it makes comes with check. Look for the most valuable thing it can grab.
